  • There will only be ten riders per performance (30 TOTAL). Conflicts will be resolved by Arena Manager if necessary. In 2022, there will be 3 performances, Friday Night, Sept. 23rd  7:30PM; Saturday, Sept. 24th 1:00PM and 7:30PM.
  • Must weigh 50 pounds or less on date of ride and be at least three years of age.
  • Rehearsal will be 6:00 PM Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the rodeo grounds (Poway Valley Riders Association, 14336 Tierra Bonita Rd., Poway). The riders will see the sheep and the chutes at that time. We will be explaining the entire process and requirements. At least one parent and the child must attend. Weigh in of all riders will be done at this time. Non-attendance at this meeting may void riding date. Any questions: [email protected].
  • There is a $40.00 entry fee for Mutton Busters.  Entry fee is nonrefundable.
  • All riders must be in approved arena attire (long sleeves, jeans, booths) and wearing a riding or a bicycle helmet will be required. (PRCA arena requirements)

New for 2022: All entries will be completed electronically beginning August 1st at 6:00AMPST. Our electronic system will have you complete the application, and an Electronic Signature of the waiver will also be completed online.  After this you will be taken to the payment screen for payment.  Once the payment has been completed, PLEASE TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE CARD for your child and email it to [email protected]

Entries will close on august 25th, 2022 and we will announce your performance date by September 5th.

All Entries Will Be Completed Electronically through the Poway Rodeo Website once registrations open (08/01/2022):

After the rider's application has been approved, the rider will receive TWO (2) rodeo tickets (one for the rider AND one for a parent/guardian/guest).


Junior Barrel Racers:

  • There will be room for 10 riders at each performance (24 total). Conflicts will be resolved by the Arena Manager if necessary. If more than 24 Junior Barrel Racers apply, then slack on Friday morning may be an option. In 2022, there will be 3 performances, Friday Night, Sept. 23rd 7:30PM; Saturday, Sept. 24th 1:00PM and 7:30PM.
  • All riders must wear jeans, boots and long-sleeve shirts (PRCA Arena Requirements) and wear an approved riding helmet.
  • Must be ages 4 through 17, on date of ride.
  • NO lead line allowed.
  • The arena Manager has the right to disqualify a rider based on safety of the rider or surroundings.
  • There is a $40.00 entry fee for Junior Barrel Racers. (Checks made out to Poway Rodeo or PRPP) Entry fee is nonrefundable.
