SAM’S POSSE Exceptional Rodeo is a FREE event open to children with intellectual and physical disabilities from ages 5-18. It will take place at the Poway Rodeo arena, located at 14336 Tierra Bonita Road, Poway CA, Saturday September 28th, at 10am. This event is an opportunity for children to experience the sport of Rodeo by using specially designed equipment for children of all abilities. Activities include…..Stick Pony Barrel Racing and Pole Bending. “Not So Rough Stock” riding, (manually operated rocking barrel), and Roping. Participants will interact with Rodeo Queens and Princesses, therapy horses as well as professional Rodeo Cowboys and Cowgirls.

Registration must be received by SAM’S POSSE no later than September 15th, 2018 and is on a first come first served basis. The event is limited to 25 participants. We will have a waiting list and you will be notified if your child is next in line.

We make every effort to include ALL participants regardless of their limitations. Each participant will have a buddy to help them navigate through the event. Participants will receive a T-Shirt, hat, souvenirs and 2 tickets for the 1pm afternoon performance of Saturday’s PRCA Rodeo. Additional rodeo tickets may be purchased at a special rate. The Saturday 1:00pm daytime performance will now include shading on the "Preferred South" seating area.


Rodeo Queen - Kristen Lopez

Kristen is a 22 year old resident of Lakeside, CA. She graduated from Pima Medical Institute from the Veterinary Assistant program and plans to continue her education in the Veterinary field. She currently works as an Emergency Critical Assistant for Pet Emergency and Specialty Center. Kristen plans on specializing in large animal medicine. If Kristen is not at a rodeo you can always find her playing sports, taking her dogs to the beach, or at the ranch hanging out with some of her best friends.
