2020 Queens Expectation Guide

I understand that if I win the title of the 2020 Poway Rodeo Queen, 2020 Poway Rodeo Jr.  Queen, 2020 Poway Rodeo Young Miss, or 2020 Poway Rodeo Little Princess it is my responsibility to be Poway Rodeo’s representative and I am obligated to present the sport of rodeo in its true light to the general public. I will strive to exhibit excelled sportsmanship, high moral and ethical character and humane treatment to animals.

I will, at all times, strive to abide by the rules of the Poway Rodeo Queen Pageant, which are adapted from the Miss Rodeo America rules and regulations.

I understand that the Poway Rodeo Queen Pageant is not a beauty pageant. Rather, it is a competition which recognizes a number of attributes; horsemanship, personality, public speaking and interview skill. Therefore, it is my responsibility, as Poway’s representative, to act, speak and dress accordingly, upholding the ideals my title deserves anytime that I am in the public eye or acting in the capacity of Poway Rodeo Queen, Jr. Queen, Young Miss, or Little Princess.

If I am chosen Poway Rodeo Queen, Poway Rodeo Jr. Queen, Poway Rodeo Young Miss, or Poway Rodeo Little Princess I will:

  •  Appear when I am asked by the Poway Rodeo Committee Chairman or the Queen’s Coordinator~ to appear at events to promote the Poway Rodeo and the City of Poway.
  • Wear my sash, crown and proper western attire as outlined in the Rules & Regulations and by the Poway Rodeo Committee Chairman or the Queen’s Coordinator ~ whenever I make an appearance.
  • Uphold the title of Poway Rodeo Queen, Poway Rodeo Jr. Queen, Poway Rodeo Young Miss, or Poway Rodeo Little Princess; encourage others to participate in future pageants, fulfill the provisions of my reign, act as a hostess to contestants in future pageants and assist in promotion of the pageant as requested.
    I understand that all of my appearances are to be approved by the Poway Rodeo Committee Chairman or the Queen’s Coordinator. I agree to maintain close personal contact with the Queens Coordinator and be available to all appearances requested.

I agree that during my reign, I shall observe a high standard of moral and ethical behavior befitting of my title and will strive to set a good example to the public, to future competitors and to the Poway Rodeo. I understand and agree that all perpetual items (crown, chaps, saddles, garment bag, etc.), loaned equipment, clothes, etc. that are the property of the Poway Rodeo Committee or others are my responsibility to maintain them, replace or repair them if they are damaged, lost or stolen, and return them to the owners upon request. I understand that all awards received during the Pageant are the property of the Poway Rodeo Committee and will not officially be mine until my reign has been successfully completed.

Social Media Policy

This policy provides guidance for Rodeo Queen/Contestants and their use of social media which will include blogs, wikis, micro blogs, message boards, chat rooms, electronic newsletters, online forums, social networking sites and other sites including but not limited to snap chat and other services that permit users to share information with others in a coexisting manner.


The following principles apply to use of social media on behalf of Poway Rodeo and Poway Rodeo Queen/Contestants as well as personal use of social media when referencing Poway Rodeo.

  • Rodeo Queen/Contestant should be aware of the effect their actions may have on their images, as well as Poway Rodeo’s image. The information that you post or publish may be public information for a long time.
  • Rodeo Queen/Contestant should be aware that Poway Rodeo representatives may observe content and information made available to them through social media. Rodeo Queen/Contestant should use their best judgment in posting material that is neither inappropriate nor harmful to Poway Rodeo or its representatives. You must grant access to all your social media pages to the Pageant Director.
  • Although not an exclusive list, some specific examples of prohibited social media conduct include posting commentary, content, or images that are defamatory, pornographic, proprietary, harassing, or that can create a hostile public environment.
  • Rodeo Queen/Contestant should not publish, post or release any information that is considered confidential or not public. If there are questions about what is considered confidential, Rodeo Queen/Contestant should check with Pageant Director.
  • Social media networks, blogs and other types of online content sometimes generate press and media attention or legal questions. Rodeo Queen/Contestant should refer these inquiries to authorized Poway Rodeo spokespersons.
  • If Rodeo Queen/Contestant finds or encounters a situation while using social media that threatens to become antagonistic, Rodeo Queen/Contestant should disengage from the dialogue in a polite manner and seek the advice of the Poway Rodeo Pageant Director.
  • Rodeo Queen/Contestant should get appropriate permission before you refer to or post images of current or former Rodeo Queen/Contestants, members, vendors or suppliers.
  • Social Media use should not interfere with Rodeo Queen/Contestant’s responsibilities to the Poway Rodeo.

WHO IS THE POWAY RODEO QUEEN, THE POWAY RODEO JUNIOR QUEEN, THE POWAY RODEO YOUNG MISS, and the POWAY RODEO LITTLE PRINCESS?

The Poway Rodeo Queen, the Poway Rodeo Junior Queen, Poway Rodeo Young Miss, and the Poway Rodeo Little Princess are young ladies who desire to represent the Community of Poway and the sport of professional rodeo. These ladies can be described as “All-American Girls” who embody the strong morals and the values of the western way of life. The Poway Rodeo Queen, the Poway Rodeo Junior Queen, Poway Rodeo Young Miss, and the Poway Rodeo Little Princess will be talented, personable horsewomen with a vast knowledge of the sport of rodeo.

QUALITIES OF A POWAY RODEO QUEEN PAGEANT CONTESTANT:

  • A young lady who wishes to be a representative of Pro Rodeo Productions of Poway Inc., and the sport of professional rodeo.
  • A young lady who has a desire to travel around Southern California to rodeos and to related events to act as an ambassador on behalf of the Poway Rodeo.
  • A young lady who portrays sportsmanship, high morals and good ethical character.
  • A young lady who has a love for both horses and the sport of professional rodeo and has the knowledge to explain the details to those who may know nothing of horses or the sport.
  • A young lady who has good verbal and written communication skills and who carries herself with dignity in all situations.
  • A young lady who strives to portray an excellent role model to the youth of Poway.
  • A young lady who follows directions and who will honor all obligations that are expected with the Poway Rodeo Queen, Poway Rodeo Junior Queen, Poway Rodeo Young Miss, and the Poway Rodeo Little Princess title.

Waiver Agreement

THIS AGREEMENT is made between the Poway Rodeo Queen Pageant Committee, Pro Rodeo Productions of Poway, Inc., (PRPP), Poway Valley Riders Association, (PVRA), Poway Rodeo Volunteers, (PRV), hereinafter referred to as “Pageant” and , who resides in the City of , hereinafter referred to as “Contestant”.


W I T N E S E T H:


          WHEREAS, Pageant conducts the Poway Rodeo Queen, Poway Rodeo Jr. Queen, Poway Rodeo Young Miss, and Poway Rodeo Little Princess Pageant (hereinafter referred to as “Contest”), including the creation, publication and administration of all rules and regulations relating thereto, and


          WHEREAS, Contestant desires to compete in the Contest. NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual promises set forth herein, the mutual benefits derived here from and other good and valuable consideration provided each unto the other, the receipt and sufficiency of which is acknowledged, it is agreed:

  1. Contestant represents she (a) has read all Contest rules and regulations; (b) has received a complete copy of all Contest rules and regulations; (c) has otherwise been fully advised as to any and all written and/or verbal amendments, if any, to Contest rules and/or regulations; (d) understands each and every rule and/or regulation, and (e) had full opportunity to present all questions regarding the rules and regulations, and all such questions have been fully answered to Contestant’s and parent’s satisfaction.

  2. Contestant will adhere to and comply with all Contest rules and regulations.

  3. Contestant shall upon observing and/or being informed of any violation of, and/or perceived violation of, any Contest rule and/or regulation:

a. Inform Pageant of the alleged and/or perceived violation at the earliest and most proximate time to the instance, but in no event, not to be less than two hours before the scheduled naming of the contest winner(s); and

b. In no way act to withhold information from Pageant and/or from other third party contestant(s), as to deprive Pageant of the opportunity to determine alleged violations.

In this regard, the Contest Director is hereby designated as the person to receive any and all alleged and/or perceived rule violation(s).
