Makenna Hyland - Poway Rodeo Junior Queen

Makenna is a 16 year old sophomore at Ramona High School. She maintains a 4.0 GPA, and plans on attending college at Cal Poly SLO majoring in journalism with plans on pursuing a career in rodeo and sports broadcasting. At the age of 12 Makenna got on her first horse. She had an instant love for riding. You might say rodeo is in her blood naturally, she competed in her first Junior Rodeo one year after starting to ride. Makenna is a four year member of California Junior Rodeo Association, along with California High School Rodeo Association. Makenna competes in barrel racing, pole bending, steer stopping, team roping, and breakaway roping. She ended up 4th in Southern California for the season in breakaway roping.
Makenna is proud to be an ambassador for the sport of rodeo representing Poway Rodeo as their 2019 Jr. Queen. Makenna is no stranger to the rodeo queen world. She plans on pursuing her love of being an ambassador by one day taking the title of Miss Rodeo California to Miss Rodeo America.
